Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, lying 36 points Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to get away with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in P19, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
